Crimson Alliance: Vengeance Review

In the middle of September I told you guys how I felt about Crimson Alliance. If you remember in part of the review I mentioned how Certain Affinity wanted to support Crimson Alliance with episodic content. Crimson Alliance: Vengeance is the first in this episodic content. And in short its more Crimson Alliance.

Vengeance is not that chock full of new content. There are only two new levels and a challenge level. From finding out where to find the new content to completing the new levels it took about an hour. This is about inline with how the levels were in the normal game. I am not sure if it is me not playing Crimson Alliance since I finished my review or if its the levels, but I found these new levels way harder then levels in the main game. The two levels are based around two different ninjas. First level is the shadow ninja and the second one is the flame ninja.

The shadow ninja level does not introduce much. There are two new things I found in my playthrough, a freeze barrel, and a Kung Lao looking enemy. Other than that its pretty much Crimson Alliance. The boss fight is obviously against the Shadow Ninja, which is pretty hard. The Shadow Ninja occasionally will go invisible and summons enemies. These enemies are the standard fair for Crimson Alliance. The Flame Ninja adds a little more to the game. There are two new enemies, a flaming dog, and a Hulk looking enemy but on fire. The Flame Ninja boss is much harder than the the Shadow Ninja. In the boss fight for the Flame Ninja is on a small platform and you are attacked by those new enemy types. The Hulk enemies are not really hard to defeat if they are alone, but they will throw three to four at you at a time. If you are to drop off the platform you will die due to a lava related death. The challenge mode is a wave based survival mode with what I believe is seven waves. The longer you go with out hoping out the more cash is at stake. If you die you get none of that cash. And in this mode you will rarely regain health.

Overall Vengeance is a decent add-on to Crimson Alliance, and at 240 Microsoft points it is a good value  if you like Crimson Alliance and wanted to play more. With not many additions to the game its not the huge episodic content I hoped it would be, but the content you do get is pretty fun. Also if you are into the gamerscores there are three new achievements two of which you will get by completing the two story levels and the third is for completing the seven waves of the challenge mode. I suggest if you liked Crimson Alliance and have three virtual dollars laying around, that you pick this up and you wont be disappointed.
